Thank you for your continued support of our current health and safety procedures.  Our school has happy children busy learning and playing with friends.

Please be assured that we do have a comprehensive plan in place if we are notified of a positive case of COVID in our school.  If there is a COVID case in your child’s classroom your child will become a close contact. We will then notify you by email and we will also phone you to come and collect your child. The email and phone call will also give you instructions on how to collect your child and how long to isolate for.

Year 1 Gates

Our Year 1 children are developing great independence walking into school by themselves now.

Rather than using the staff car park big gate to enter the school grounds at 8:30 am, please bring your child to one of the small school gates at the front of the school instead.

The big gate will remain closed at 3 pm from next week  as well, so our Year 1 children will leave through the small gates.

This is for safety reasons as we now have construction vehicles accessing the school through this car park gate.

Year 5 and 6 Camps

Botany Downs School has been working to ensure that the health, safety and ongoing quality educational experience are at the forefront of our planning as we have been working through our Year 5 and 6 Camp organisation under the Covid Protection Framework.

Unfortunately, due to very recent advice and regulations put in place by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, we have decided to postpone both the Year 5 and 6 Camps. However, we are pleased to let you know we have booked dates for later in the year. Year 5 and 6 parents have been emailed separately last week with this camp information.

This decision has been made in consultation with our Camp Coordinators, Deputy Principal, Principal and School Board, and was not made lightly as the students’ health and safety is our priority.

New dates for Camps:

Year 5 – Monday 26th to Tuesday 27th September

Year 6 – Monday 12th to Wednesday 14 December

If you have completed any overnight permission, health and safety, police vetting forms or paid for camp, this information will be rolled over to new the dates. If you would prefer a refund you can also email our Executive Officer Trish Toussaint trisht@botanydowns.school.nz.

Road Patrol
Our Road Patrol is up and running this year – thank you to the Year 6 children and our parent volunteers.  Please use the crossing with your children, this teaches them safe road crossing procedures so they will be able to do it themselves one day!
Some gentle reminders in relation to driving safely around our school…
  • Do not park on yellow lines, at all.
  • No u-turns in front of the crossing!
  • Where possible, kids should get out of the car on the footpath side, not onto the road.
  • Park down the road a bit and then walk to their gate.

Thank you for keeping all our community safe.

BYOD Reminder

Please remember to bring your computer forms in to your child’s teacher so they can get logged in and sorted online.  Thanks so much.
