Announcement :

Nau Mai, Haere Mai – Welcome to Botany Downs School!

Newsletter Week 3 Term 4

                                   Week 3, Term 4 2026

Kia ora koutou Parents and BDS Whānau,

On teacher only day our teachers and teacher aides came together for an inspiring day of professional learning and growth. We focused on aligning our teaching with the new curriculum, moderating end-of-year writing assessments, and deepening our culturally responsive practices.

When our staff learn and grow together, our tamariki thrive. We are excited to put these fresh ideas into action across all our classrooms.

A huge thank you to Mrs Jeffs and our Year 4, 5, and 6 teams for organizing a fantastic Athletics Day. It was wonderful to see so many parents and whānau come along to support our students.

A special thank you also goes to the Howick Intermediate students who came along to support and help out during the event. The children truly showed their Botany Best, gave every event their all, and had a wonderful time out in the beautiful spring sunshine.

Ngā mihi nui

Keeping Our Tamariki Safe – Parking Reminders

The safety of our tamariki is our top priority. Please remember:

No parking on yellow lines – These areas must stay clear for visibility and safety.
Do not park across driveways – This blocks access and creates hazards.

Let’s all do our part to keep drop-off and pick-up times safe for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation.

Gumboot Friday 6th November

Gumboot Friday is an annual event that raises money for free youth counselling. The event also serves as a platform to raise awareness about mental health and provide support to those who may be struggling with their mental well-being.

To support Gumboot Friday, our Botany Downs School Councillors will be collecting gold coin donations on the hall deck from 8.30-9am next Friday, 6th November. It would be awesome to see as many children wearing their gumboots as possible to support this worthy cause. Our councillors are also running a colouring in competition with a prize for the best colouring for each year level.

Gumboot Friday 6th November, gold coin donation, wear your gumboots!
