Arts & Culture

At Botany Downs School we strive to provide opportunities for our tamariki of all ages to respond creatively and imaginatively to tasks across a range of disciplines within The Arts Curriculum as an area of learning.

We recognise that each and every one of our students is unique and thus we encourage them to bring their own unique experiences and skills to their learning throughout the year. Through movement, sound, and image, the arts transform our students’ creative ideas into amazing expressive works that communicate layered meanings.

We regularly take part in the annual HPPA dance festival, and our choir and orchestra are supported and led by a specialist music teacher. Our Arts Trail evening is an eagerly looked forward to event in our school calendar.

Kapa Haka

We are proud of our Kapa Haka group, which is made up of enthusiastic students from Years 4-6. Supported by teachers, they learn waiata and movements that they proudly display at various school events throughout the year.
